We offer all general and emergency on-farm health service for livestock including horses, cattle, sheep, alpacas. Our Equine Clinic and secure stable complex at Orange Veterinary Hospital enables care for animals being brought to us or requiring surgery, treatment and nursing care.

Pregnancy Testing

Cattle pregnancy testing is a valuable tool to ensure that every cow on your property is working as hard as you are. Our Australian Cattle Vet accredited vets preg test using ultrasound always backed up by manual pregnancy testing as required. We supply tail tags and foetal ageing on request to give you accurate calving dates enabling strategic herd decisions.

Artificial Insemination

We can assist with issues that can arise during breeding, pregnancy and delivery. We perform artificial insemination with fresh, chilled and frozen (in horses) semen. We can perform in house progesterone testing, collect and assess semen.

Bull Soundness Exams

The health and fertility of bulls is critical. Our vets perform physical tests on bulls to ensure their soundness for a breeding operation. Conformation, structural soundness, semen, penis and testicle checks and performance capacity testing if required are services we offer on farm.

Herd Health Management Programs

An appropriate herd health program ensures proactive management of optimal animal health. Producers can work with our Veterinarians to plan a specific strong health program including vaccination protocols, breeding programs, disease control and biosecurity.

Buying a new horse is exciting but care must be taken to ensure a horse is fit for the purpose it is being purchased for ranging from a child’s pony through to a high level performance horse . A pre-purchase exam provides an objective and unbiased professional assessment of a horse enabling you to make an informed decision before you commit to buy.

Equine Lameness Exams

Lameness in horses can be a result of a number of contributing factors. We use modern technology such as radiographs and ultrasound to assist diagnosis of the cause of lameness and work together with owners and farriers to provide effective medical treatment and corrective shoeing to maximise successful outcomes.

Gelding

Gelding is the surgical removal of a horse, donkey or alpaca’s testicles. Gelding is the most common elective surgery performed on these animals.

We offer this surgery at Orange Veterinary Hospital or at your property.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a visual examination of internal organs and body parts without invasive surgery. It assists with diagnosis of ulcers, foreign bodies and breathing difficulties

After Hours Emergencies

Orange Veterinary Hospital provides afterhours care in those unexpected and emergency situations. Our mixed practice vets share the after-hours call rotation and we try our hardest to ensure that there is always someone to answer your phone call in times of emergency or accident after hours. That being said, if our vets are unable to answer your call; please leave a detailed message and our on-call veterinarian will return your call as soon as they are available or back in service.
