Career Opportunities
Veterinary Receptionist
Orange Veterinary Hospital is an established, modern and progressive 12 vet mixed animal practice offering a diverse range of medical and surgical services in Central West NSW. We are seeking a receptionist to join our amazing Customer Care team.
About the Role:
This is not a standard reception or admin role. Our veterinary receptionists are the heartbeat of the hospital. On any given day, you may be answering a busy phone line, welcoming an excited new puppy and its family, calmly supporting a distressed or grieving pet owner, and helping reduce stress in a full waiting room — often all at the same time. This role requires exceptional multitasking, emotional intelligence, empathy and resilience, along with the ability to think strategically about hospital flow, time management and use of resources.
Job duties include:
- Greeting clients and patients as they arrive
- Addressing phone and email enquiries from clients
- Appointment scheduling for consults, follow up visits and procedures.
- Handling of cash and Eftpos transactions
- Keeping the public areas, reception and consult areas neat and tidy
- Helping unpack and store stock deliveries
- General administration and support duties as required
Our Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate should have:
- A passion for people and animals
- Excellent communication, telephone and customer service skills
- High emotional intelligence, with compassion and empathy
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to multitask
- Problem solving skills and proactiveness
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic
What’s included
Salary is dependent on experience but is above award.
Full time is preferable, although for the right applicant we would consider permanent part-time or casual.
Morning tea and lunch are provided daily for our staff as part of our commitment to offering a great place to work and a proactive healthy work team.
